From the Brittany beaches to the coast of the Loire-Atlantique, here is where you can find the “Côte Sauvage”, a true natural wonder composed of peaks, cliffs, secret coves and legendary caves.

It includes the resort of Pouliguen with its vibrant port. Located near the salt marshes, the resort whose name means “little white hole” in reference to the salt trade that is widely practiced here since the eighteenth century. It is a haven of peace and you will appreciate the beautiful villas built on Penchateau Point. The walk is a must, you can reach the bridge from the pier which is planted with tall trees. This forest, initially created to protect the dunes, is now part of the city centre and it is a very pleasurable walk. Among the monuments not to be missed are the chapel of Sainte-Anne-de-Penchateau, that dates back to the fifteenth century and has a beautiful Calvary.

This is what the visitors come for, the views of the bay, each more beautiful than the other. Penchateau Point is one of the best views, you can admire La Baule beach, the mansions and the old town before relaxing or fishing. The “Côte Sauvage” also hides many caves and coves until Batz-sur-Mer. You can enjoy using the cycle path and the coastal footpath, and, don’t forget the sun setting over the black rocks is memorable. The beaches of Anse Toullain, the Lande and Nau are also very friendly.

Further south, about twenty kilometres away, the pretty town of Pornichet is known to be one of the most famous resorts of the “Côte d'Amour”. Thanks to swimming becoming fashionable, that enabled the town to develop into a popular worldwide resort in the 1900. The charm of the past is reflected through the sumptuous villas and authenticity that emerges from the area makes it a very pleasant destination. Several regattas are organized, attracting water sports enthusiasts and the label "kids resort" makes it one of the most family orientated of the Loire-Atlantique, with the beautiful beaches of Bonne-Source, Sainte-Marguerite and Libraires.
Great beach of La Baule: the largest in Europe
Just as in Pornichet, La Baule is known for its "unconventional" architectural style Both cities also benefit from their assets by offering tourists guided tours of the homes that border the sea. In La Baule, there are over sixty! Another asset of the city is located between Le Pouliguen and Pornichet, on the Guérande peninsula, its 9 km of sandy beach (making it the largest in Europe) with pine trees that protect the dunes. Sailing schools are alongside the casino and children's clubs. The romance that emanates from the city attracts many visitors who also come to sample the culture of the area. the Chapelle Sainte-Anne welcomes numerous concerts and exhibitions throughout the year.
Nature lovers can go with pleasure discover the Escoublac forest, the opportunity to discover the second largest dune in Europe after that of Pila before returning to the bay, proud to be one of the cleanest in France.
Guérande is closeby, the opportunity to discover more about the Côte Sauvage before going back to Croisic.
